The main purpose of writing this book is unfortunately to touch on the point that many students do not like mathematics lessons because of the lack of geometry, as a result of trying to teach them only verbally, without giving the basic structures
that can be explained with the geometric and shapes that form the basis of the mathematical expressions that are tried to be taught in education. In fact, it is called the king or queen of mathematical sciences, but not teaching the knowledge of nature
and the environment in general, which is the mother of it, and the knowledge of knowledge artificially called geometry in particular, causes mathematics to hang. In this book, starting from the historical development of morphology and geometrical
principles, after focusing on the philosophy, logic, and lexicon, it is explained how some mathematical equations can be derived simply by using the geometry basis.
In the preparation of this book, the subjects arising from the courses
I gave at ITU and which are tried to be learned by the students with curiosity and interest were taken as basis. I would like to thank Muhiddin Yenigün, Press and Publication Manager of the Su Foundation, who supported me by designing the book.
I would also like to thank the ITU Rectorate, who helped to publish the book, and especially Rector İsmail Koyuncu, who has made a distinguished name for himself among my students. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to my wife, Fatma Hanım,
who has always supported me in my scientific studies.
Zekai Şen
Dr. Zekai Şen graduated from ITU Civil Engineering Department as a graduate engineer in 1972 and completed his master's and doctorate in a short time from Imperial College and University of London in England. Dr. Zekai Şen continued his academic
life at ITU between 1975-1982.
Dr. Şen worked in the Hydrogeology Department of King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia between 1982-1992 and was the Head of the Department there. While he was working in Saudi Arabia, he was conferred
the "Water Scientist Title and Seal" by the American Hydrology Institute. Dr. In 1992, Zekai Şen was appointed to the Department of Meteorology Engineering at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics at ITU, where he made a definite return
to the country, where he carried out scientific studies on water, meteorology, climate and renewable energy. Dr. Zekai Şen continued his scientific studies at the Department of Civil Engineering at ITU Faculty of Civil Engineering between
1999-2014 until his retirement. Dr. Zekai Şen worked at the Intergovermental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) between 2003 and 2007. In 2007, the NOBEL award was shared between Al Gore and the IPCC, and Dr. Zekai Şen was given a NOBEL certificate
for being in the IPCC team.
Granted the Encouragement Award from TÜBİTAK in 1978 and the Science Award in 1993, Dr. While Şen wrote 30 books in Turkish, 16 books in English were published by reputable international publishing
houses. Dr. Şen has a total of 400 publications, almost half of which are single-named, scanned in Web of Science. The most important features of these publications are that they necessarily contain a new approach. As a result of his principle
of introducing a new approach in publications, Dr. Zekai Şen has brought many scientific methods to the literature.
Dr. Zekai Şen has been the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Water Foundation, which is also an important
NGO, for many years and makes significant contributions to water-related studies. After his retirement from ITU, he continues his studies at Istanbul Medipol University.
Dr. Zekai Şen is married and has three children, one of whom
is a girl.
