Paints and dyestuffs used today carry an ever-increasing importance within the framework of developing technological applications, scientific studies conducted and ongoing in this field, and sustainable, environment-friendly chemicals. This book has been written from an organic chemist's perspective with the aim of introducing the structures of paints and dyestuffs, and explaining their chemical classes and properties alongside the concepts of color and colorability, as well as which types of materials can be dyed through which methods. Furthermore, in order to facilitate the understanding of the syntheses of dyestuff intermediates and final dyes, the organic chemistry reactions frequently used in these syntheses are provided by being classified within a certain systematic order. Along with this, some examples of dye synthesis are also demonstrated together with their reaction equations.
