ITU Publishing House Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Fatma SEL TURHAN

Assoc. Prof. Fatma Sel Turhan graduated from Boğaziçi University, Department of History, in 1997. She received her Master's degree in 2001 with the thesis titled "The Abolition of the Janissary Army and Its Reflections" and her Ph.D. degree in 2009 with the thesis titled "Rebelling for the Old Order: Ottoman Bosnia, 1826-1836" from Boğaziçi University, Institute for Graduate Studies in Social Sciences, Department of History. Between 2022 and 2023, she served as a visiting scholar for 15 months at the University of Oxford, St Antony's College, Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. Her research interests include the Balkans in the 18th and 19th centuries, Balkan cultural history, modernization in the Balkans, religion and nationalism, wars and prisoners of war in the Balkans, history of Bosnia, and rebellions and center-periphery relations in the Ottoman Balkans. Assoc. Prof. Fatma Sel Turhan has been a faculty member at the ITU Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Sociology/Humanities and Social Sciences, since March 2015. She is married with three children.

Lecturer Akın ÖZARSLANTÜRK

Born in Istanbul in 1987, Akın Özarslantürk completed his bachelor's and master's degrees at Istanbul University, Department of Information and Document Management, where he is currently pursuing his doctoral studies. He began his professional career in 2011 at Koç University Suna Kıraç Library as a Document Delivery Librarian and at the Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations (ANAMED) Library as a Unit Librarian. During this period, he was part of the founding team of Bibliopera: Beyoğlu Research Centers Network Project, which brought together research centers in Beyoğlu under a unified network. Having served in the Collection Development Department at Istanbul Technical University Mustafa İnan Library between 2016 and 2023, Özarslantürk joined ITU Publishing House in 2023 and continues his duty as the Editor-in-Chief.

Lecturer Barbaros AKKURT, PhD

 Born in Istanbul in 1978, Barbaros Akkurt entered Istanbul University, Department of Chemistry, in 1995 and graduated in 1999. In the same year, he began his master's studies at Istanbul University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Program, and graduated in 2002. He started his doctoral studies at Istanbul Technical University, Graduate School of Science, Engineering and Technology, Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Program, in 2003 and completed them in 2009. In 2005, he was appointed as a Specialist to the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Letters, Istanbul Technical University. In 2020, he voluntarily transferred to the ITU Mustafa İnan Library. He started working as the Technical Services Supervisor at ITU Publishing House in 2022. He is single and has one child.

Sevda EVCİMAN

Sevda Evciman graduated from Erciyes University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Publicity, in 2016. She was appointed to Istanbul Technical University in 2022. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in New Media Communication and Journalism at Istanbul Gelişim University. Since 2023, she has been serving as the Communication and Organization Supervisor at ITU Publishing House.

Zuhal DEMİREL

Zuhal Demirel holds a bachelor's degree from Eskişehir Anadolu University, Faculty of Economics, Department of Economics, and an associate degree from Eskişehir Anadolu University Vocational School, Department of Audiovisual Techniques and Photography. She is currently continuing her graduate education at Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi, Department of Communication Sciences. Her academic research focuses on netlessphobia and disaster communication. She previously served as the Press, Publication, and Public Relations Manager at Muş Alparslan University. Since 2021, she has worked as a corporate news editor in the ITU Corporate Communication Office. She currently holds the position of Digital Publicity and Publishing Operations Supervisor.

Hatice ÇAKMAK

Having completed her bachelor's degree at Istanbul University, Department of Geography, Hatice ÇAKMAK received her master's degree from Istanbul Technical University, Apparel Retail and Fashion Management Program. She began her administrative career at ITU in 2018 as the Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Mines and subsequently continued her duties at the Rectorate Executive Secretariat. In 2020, she was appointed as the Promotion Office Supervisor within the Directorate of Communication, during which she also served as the Acting Director of Events and Protocol. As of 2026, she continues her career within ITU Publishing House.

Serap GÜL

Serap GÜL holds a bachelor's degree from ITU Faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Chemical Engineering, an associate degree from Atatürk University Open Education Faculty, Occupational Health and Safety Program, and an associate degree from Eskişehir Anadolu University Open Education Faculty, Cultural Heritage and Tourism Program. She began her professional career in 2011 at the ITU Faculty of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering. Working in the Thin Film, Polymer, Zeolite, and Membrane Analysis Laboratory, she managed the analysis and characterization processes of samples using advanced technology instruments (TGA, DSC, etc.). Continuing her career within ITUMER since 2022, Gül initially worked in analysis and characterization processes before taking over the organization and coordination of analysis processes for all samples received by the unit. Alongside her professional work, Gül is interested in the arts, creating watercolor paintings and participating in various choirs.
