Women’s Studies Research and Application Centers (KASAUM) are structures that bridge the gap between academia, the public, and civil society, playing a decisive role in the institutionalization of women’s studies. Through their academic and applied research across a wide range of disciplines—from social policy to law, health to education, and engineering, architecture, art, and culture—they contribute to the goals of preventing violence against women, increasing participation in decision-making processes, and strengthening gender equality. However, due to scattered data structures, limited reporting practices, and weak institutional networks, the knowledge produced by these centers often remains invisible. This book aims to fill this gap and present a comprehensive, written inventory of Women’s Research Centers in Türkiye for the first time. The study positions the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Family and Social Services’ 2024–2028 Women’s Empowerment Strategy Document and Action Plan, alongside the Gender Equality Plans (GEP) implemented in universities, as the core milestones of this process; it thoroughly examines the establishment and structuring processes of these centers. Serving as a reference source for policymakers, academics, researchers, and field practitioners, this work aims to contribute to strengthening inter-center cooperation and providing a sustainable foundation for gender equality studies. The book is intended for readers and researchers in the fields of women's studies, gender, social policy, and higher education governance.
