Focusing on a rebellion against the forms of bodily discipline and the myth of perfection in classical ballet within the chaotic atmosphere of the 20th century a period harboring all the contradictions of the modern era this study examines the birth story of modern dance through the lens of Isadora Duncan. In a century shaped under the shadow of technological speed, wars, and social transformations, the work scrutinizes the process by which the body ceased to be merely a performance tool and transformed into a site of liberation. The piece presents a historical perspective on how Duncan fundamentally altered the stage, costume, and music with her jarring question directed at the image of the "person walking on their tiptoes." This new discourse, where traditional forms were shattered to be replaced by improvisation, the wind, and human nature, depicts the body's defiance of its own limitations in a lyrical language. Prepared for the pocket book series of ITU Press, this text offers an insightful narrative that explores the breaking points of dance history and how art was redefined through a single woman's imagination.
